Outdoor Gear Review – Grip Tex Dog Boots
We had our first dusting of snow and were able to give Marty’s new dog boots a try. This was perfect since we didn’t want to start off on some long hike and find out they didn’t work or gave him sores. So, this morning we suited Marty up for a test run.
These are the Ruffwear Grip Trex Dog Boots. We have used them a couple of times but usually just for one foot due to an injury so this was the first opportunity we have had to use all four at once! First we started in the house. One of the things I like about these boots is the adjustable velcro closing. It makes fitting them super easy and I like flexibility. Just like the Ruffwear video, they were very easy to put on. They open pretty wide which is great since Marty has wide feet.
Once they were on, it was a crack up to see him try to walk. I don’t think Marty thought is was as funny as I did. He eventually got better and was walking sort of normal. I used treats to get him used to walking and to sort of make a game out of it.
Then we went outside to really test them out. He was running around like normal as soon as he got outside. It probably didn’t hurt that he thought he saw a deer in the distance which made him completely forget about everything else. Molly enjoyed herself too….did you catch her rolling in the snow?
I would definitely recommend these boots. They stayed on the whole time he was outside and the fact that we can adjust them is huge. If you are looking for some great boots to protect your dogs feet try these. Marty thinks your dog will love them.
We would love to hear your thoughts about your experience with these or other boots for your dog in the comments.
