essential oil diffusion

Beating the Winter Blahs with Essential Oils

One of the ways we keep energized and feeling good here at Sage Hound Farm is by diffusing essential oils. I am seriously addicted! My best friend Teresa is the one that first introduced me to the wonders of essential oils. She had been using them to help her husband through his radiation and chemo treatments with much success. After doing some additional reading and research, I was ready to try them on my own. There are many different companies that sell essential oils and I did a lot of research to figure out which ones had the best quality. I have three that I would recommend personally but I always suggest doing your own research as well. The three that I currently use are Young Living (full disclosure I am a member and if you purchase thru them I will get credit if you use this link), Animal Essential Oils (these are created by a vet specifically for animals) and Rocky Mountain Oils. I do not recommend purchasing your oils at the local health food store. Those oils are usually hybrids or adulterated (mixed with synthetic extenders which can be very harmful). Now let’s move on to the fun part…

essential oil bottles

So, let’s get down to some winter diffusion blends that I absolutely love.  The great thing with oils is you can’t really mess it up other than having a scent that you don’t really like. I tend to use my intuition and open the bottles and sniff them before putting them into my diffuser. I will either love them or change the combination until it smells “right”. For me, my go to is Rosemary. I absolutely LOVE this oil and use it a lot of my blends. According to history, Rosemary was part of the “Marseilles Vinegar” or “Four Thieves Vinegar” that bandits who robbed the dead and dying used to protect themselves during the 15th century plague. It has been burned as incense since the time of ancient Greece so it has been around a long time!

The Sage Hounds can usually be found in the room that I am diffusing in…they like it too!
